Chinese army scientists: TikTok participates in cognitive war against Russia
South China Morning Post reported that the TikTok social network uses its platform to wage a cognitive war against Russia, referring to an investigation of military scientists of the People's Liberation Army of China, RIA Novosti reports
According to the publication, TikTok has joined Facebook, Twitter, Google and other Western technology giants and has begun offering its platform for waging a cognitive war against Russia. Chinese military scientists claim that the application ‘significantly undermined the moral image of the Russian military’ and their international image.
“This is the first time civilian high-tech companies have carried out cognitive warfare during a large-scale war. Media-driven cognitive warfare based on the mobile Internet has had huge repercussions in this conflict,” the study said.
The report authors concluded that the United States and its allies have used social media platforms to promote content that allegedly highlights the brutality of Russia and shows Ukraine in a more favourable light.
