China displaced Japan from first place in car exports
Data from Japan Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows that China overtook Japan as the world's largest car exporter in 2023, The Associated Press reports
The Japanese Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported that, in 2023, the country exported 4.42m cars, which is 16 percent more than a year earlier. At the same time, car sales in the domestic market amounted to almost 4.78m.
"According to data published earlier by the Chinese Association of Automobile Manufacturers, 4.91m million cars were sold abroad last year, or almost 58 percent more than a year earlier. To a large extent, the increase was due to the supply of electric and hybrid cars," the source said.
Such statistics show that China has overtaken Japan in this regard, taking the first place among car exporters.
Japan held the lead since 2017, but car sales began declining since 2000.
