BSU discussed options for educational co-operation with Indonesian universities

A delegation from the Indonesia embassy in the Russian Federation, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, visited the Belarusian State University (BSU), with the two sides discussing possible types of co-operation – as noted by the BSU press service

From the Belarusian side, Konstantin Kozadayev, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation of Education of BSU, took part in the negotiations. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the BSU Department of International Relations Vladimir Galynsky and Dean of the Department of International Relations Elena Dostanko.

“The guests were introduced to the educational and scientific potential, as well as competitive advantages of the Belarusian university,” the press service noted. “Elena Dostanko spoke in detail about the structure and specialties of the International Relations Department. The parties discussed various areas of educational interaction between BSU and Indonesian universities.”

In particular, they discussed the possibility of organising a one-semester training programme for Indonesian students at BSU as part of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) – is a scholarship scheme by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology for Indonesian students to study for one semester at universities abroad to gain cultural experience, enhance skills and knowledge.

The BSU press service recalled that since 2020, a memorandum of understanding has been in force between the BSU and Universitas Airlangga (Indonesia). Thus, as part of co-operation, in the spring semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, a student of the International Relations Department studied at this university. From 2016 to 2021, Unitechprom BSU carried out a contract for the supply of medical equipment products (spirometers) for Global Systech Medika (Jakarta, Indonesia). The International Sakharov Environmental Institute of the Belarusian State University (ISEI BSU) has been participating in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking since 2020, which is organised by the Universitas Indonesia Green Metric World University Rankings, occupying the first position among Belarus’ higher education institutions.

In the near future, the parties will work on the announced initiatives to determine specific areas of co-operation.
