Birds will have to go through step-by-step training to learn how to bring garbage and leave it in a special machine that will give them food for their efforts.

From the beginning, crows will be involved in street cleaning in the city of Södertälje, located near Stockholm. With the help of birds, local authorities can reduce the cost of street cleaning from cigarette butts by at least 75 percent. If the pilot project proves effective, this practice can be applied in other cities of the country.

Over a billion cigarette butts are left on Sweden’s streets each year, and they represent 62 percent of all litter.
