Belarus’ Prosecutor General's Office identified names of Lithuanian and Latvian punishers who destroyed Belarusians during WWII

During the investigation of the criminal case on genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, the Prosecutor General's Office has identified the names of Nazi executioners from among the Lithuanian and Latvian punishers who carried out the genocide of Belarusians in times of WWII. The full list of criminals, as well as the crimes committed by them, is available here.

The list consists of two parts. The first one includes the names of 85 Lithuanian punishers who took part in committing crimes against civilians and prisoners of war on the territory of the BSSR during the Great Patriotic War. The second part enumerates 251 Latvian punishers who participated in large-scale operations to exterminate the Belarusian population in the period from 1942 to 1944. In total, the list consists of 336 names, but it will be updated as new information becomes available.

The Prosecutor General's Office notes that the political elites of Lithuania and Latvia refuse to provide legal assistance in the investigation of the criminal case under the pretext of ‘harming their sovereignty or security, rights and legitimate interests of citizens’. Such a position testifies to the concealment of war criminals, as well as to the disregard of international obligations.
