Belarus boasts EAEU’s highest growth in industrial production

Over the first five months of this year, industrial production in the EAEU member states totalled $583.6bn – up by almost 2 percent compared to the same period last year. Growth was observed in all EAEU member states, the largest – in Belarus by more than 4 percent – according to the data announced by the official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission Iya Malkina during an online briefing.

“The manufacturing industry accounted for the largest share (over 65 percent) in the structure of the EAEU industrial production. Its share increased by 4 percentage points compared to the same period last year,” she said.

According to Iya Malkina, in January-May 2023, the GDP of the EAEU stood at $570bn.

“EAEU agricultural production grew by 3.2 percent to reach $32.6bn, with the largest growth being observed in Belarus – by 5.4 percent.”

The official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission added that the volume of construction works performed increased by 9.2 percent. In January-May 2023, the volume of passenger traffic totalled 5.7 billion people – up 8.4 percent compared to January-May 2022.
