Americanist: US crime figures growing
A rise in crime figures is registered in the United States, and people are actively buying weapons there wishing to defend themselves – as stated by a political expert, Americanist Malek Dudakov, in his talk with the Soloviev Live channel
According to the expert, the weapons agenda remains relevant in the United States. “There has been recently a landmark decision of the US Supreme Court regarding the right to bear arms in liberal states. Although Conservatives enjoy a majority in the Supreme Court, they nevertheless ruled against it in New York and Illinois. As a result, Democrats have had some respite here: at least in this matter, the Supreme Court was on their side, which does not happen so often. In general, the weapons agenda remains relevant, and arms sales in the United States are setting all records in recent years. So far, there is no official data on the 2022 figures, but I think they would be record. This is primarily due to the rise of crime,” Mr. Dudakov explained.
The expert noted that the United States is currently experiencing a serious crisis related to crime, “It began with the pandemic. Over the years 2020-2021, the number of murders jumped by 44 percent – which was a huge figure. We are not mentioning statistics on other violent crimes, including robberies and rapes. With this in view, people are trying to defend themselves – and sales of weapons are setting all possible records as a result. There are attempts to impose restrictions in some states, but they [local authorities] understand that such bans are not quite relevant in the current situation.”
