Almost 10,000 apartments built in Minsk since early 2021

Since the beginning of the year, about 10,000 apartments have been built in Minsk. Almost 570,000 square metres of housing have been put into operation, with over 20 percent of them allocated to those in need – as reported by the CTV TV channel.

Major repairs of existing buildings are also in full swing and, from January-September, more than 120 residential houses were revamped. Over 240 buildings will be put into operation this year. Facades are being restored and engineering communications are being changed. Landscaping is also underway. By the beginning of the season, the heating equipment was also repaired.

“Major repairs are carried out at the expense of the local budget and funds paid monthly by owners and tenants for housing and communal services. On average, such works last from four to seven months – depending on the number of storeys, the total area, and the area of auxiliary premises. At present, apartment houses built in the 1970s-1980s are primarily being revamped in Minsk,” Andrei Novik, the Deputy General Director of Minsk’s City Housing Authority, explains.

This year, a complex approach to capital repairs is in place: a project is developed for several neighbouring houses at once. In 2021, fifty buildings will be repaired in this way.
