Xi Jinping to attend, deliver speech at SCO summit via video link
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said that Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to attend the SCO summit on July 4th which will be hold in a virtual format, RIA Novosti reports
The statement of the diplomat, published on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, reads, “At the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation and deliver important remarks via video link from Beijing.”
The SCO is an international organisation founded in 2001. The members of the SCO are Russia, India, China, Pakistan and four countries of Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
India assumed the chairmanship of the SCO group in September last year and is the host this year.
