Xi Jinping: China opposes interference of external forces in Belarus’ internal affairs

Beijing firmly supports Belarus’ development path and opposes interference by external forces in the country’s internal affairs – as stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping during his meeting with the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, in Beijing, according to the China Central Television, BelTA reports

The Chinese leader recalled that from February 28th to March 2nd of this year, Aleksandr Lukashenko visited China on a state visit, which was successful. “We have reached an important consensus in promoting the development of high-level bilateral relations. Over the past year, political trust between our countries has strengthened and international co-operation has become closer,” Xi Jinping said.

He also underlined that Beijing has always viewed China-Belarus relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. The PRC firmly supports the development path of Belarus, which corresponds to its national peculiairirites, and opposes the interference of external forces in the country’s politics.

Beijing is committed to continue strengthening strategic interaction with Minsk, providing support, promoting practical co-operation, and deepening China-Belarus relations.

Xi Jinping also said that China and Belarus are important forces involved in the transformation and construction of the global governance system. “China is ready to work with Belarus to strengthen co-ordination and interaction within multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation,” the Chinese leader noted.

China is ready, together with Belarus, to implement initiatives for the benefit of overall development, security, and for the sake of strengthening civilisational values. Xi Jinping also pointed out the need to optimise cross-border transport communications and strengthen trade-economic and humanitarian liaisons.

Moreover, the Chinese leader invited his Belarusian colleague to expand co-operation between the two countries in culture, education, healthcare, sports and tourism. He also pointed out the importance of developing youth exchanges and strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.
