US to allocate $88.6m in aid to Moldova
The United States is going to allocate an additional $88.6m in aid to Moldova, including $30m for military spending, TASS reports
The website of the US Embassy in Chisinau reads, “The United States announced the allocation of additional assistance to Moldova in the amount of $88.6 million at a ministerial conference held on October 17th in Chisinau. The sum includes $30 million of US military aid (a total of $45m this year), which will enable the Moldovan Government to purchase new equipment for modernisation of the national army."
It is reported that, in 2023, Moldova has increased its military budget by 68 percent – up to $89m, which will be approximately 0.5 percent of GDP. Earlier, President Maia Sandu said that the United States, the European Union and NATO had increased assistance to strengthen Moldova’s defence capability.
