US State Department supports international tribunal for Ukraine with its laws
The United States supports the creation of an international tribunal for Ukraine, which would be guided in its work by Ukrainian legislation – as stated by Vedant Patel, the Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the US Department of State, RIA Novosti reports
In his talk with the media, Mr. Patel said, “The United States supports the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine in the form of an internationalised court, which would be based on the legal system of Ukraine with international elements.”
In addition, the US official said that the tribunal should enjoy broad international support – especially on the part of Europeans. Mr. Patel believes the tribunal should ‘ideally be located in a European country’.
