US General Staff Head: Washington and its allies helped Ukraine prepare nine brigades
Washington and its NATO partners have helped Kiev in training of nine brigades over the past few months – as stated by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the American Armed Forces, Mark Milley, TASS reports with reference to Foreign Affairs
Mr. Milley said that he did not want to predict how the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian troops would end. At the same time, he said that Kiev had turned to the United States for military assistance. “It asked for help to prepare and equip its forces. To be more precise, the talk was about nine brigades, including combined arms, armoured and motorised infantry," he added.
According to Mr. Milley, Kiev was also ‘helped to prepare light infantry and sabotage and reconnaissance groups’. He noted that Ukraine was assisted by NATO countries and European partners of the United States.
Mr. Milley added that Ukraine has the necessary resources for offensive operations now. At the same time, he believes Kiev also has the opportunities for defence.
