UAE Embassy delegation discussed long-term partnership with BSU

A delegation from the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Republic of Belarus has visited the Belarusian State University (BSU), where Rector Andrei Korol and UAE Ambassador to Belarus Ibrahim Salim Mohammed al-Musharrah met. The talks were also attended by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Educational Innovations Olesya Prokhorenko and Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Elena Dostanko, the BSU press service reports.

The university explained that the visit is aimed to discuss the prospects for strengthening and expanding co-operation in science and education between the Belarusian university and the UAE. Rector Andrei Korol introduced the distinguished guest in detail to the history and modern structure, educational and scientific potential, as well as competitive advantages of the university he heads.

“The parties considered the possibilities of establishing a long-term partnership in educational and scientific activities,” the press service informed. “In particular, they talked about academic mobility, the opening of new joint educational programmes with the issuance of double diplomas and the organisation of joint scientific and practical conferences and projects. In the near future, the announced initiatives will be worked out to identify specific areas of interaction and organise meetings with representatives of UAE universities.”

BSU has been liaising with the UAE University under an agreement since 2007. A partnership has also been established between the BSU Faculty of Physics and the Technology Innovation Institute (Masdar, Abu Dhabi) as part of the training of UAE citizens in the Applied Physics Master’s degree programme with specialisations in the High-Current Electronics and Powerful Laser Systems and Optics, as well as in the Mathematical Methods in Physics training programme courses. Last year, a group of Master’s degree programme students completed their training in the Powerful Laser Systems and Optics. Moreover, Arabic has been taught at the BSU Faculty of International Relations since 1996. At the moment, the training of specialists with Arabic language knowledge is carried out in the Linguistic and Regional Studies, International Relations and World Economy specialties.
