Europe was caught unprepared for the energy crisis it faced – as noted by Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez, RIA Novosti reports

As Dönmez noted, European states tried to find an alternative to gas supplies from Russia. Thus, Europe expected to switch to liquefied natural gas (LNG).

“But that increased the energy prices abnormally due to the lack of terminals and the fact that source countries could not meet all the demands,” he stated.

According to the Turkish minister, it is necessary to pay attention to which side suffered the most from the gas crisis.

“It is necessary to evaluate who benefits from this crisis and who does not. It is impossible to manage this process only at the expense of economy. Europe itself will evaluate this and make its own decision,” Dönmez said.

At the same time, he added that Ankara will continue to stand with Europe.
