Terrorism alert level in Sweden raised

The terrorism alert level in Sweden has been raised to almost the maximum level, as the Security Service said the country is now a significant target for Islamists, TASS reports

Previously, the terrorism alert was on the third level, and its increase should become an impetus for social actors to start measures that will reduce the risk of terrorist acts.

"According to the Security Service’s Head, Charlotte von Essen, Sweden has become a priority target of Islamists," the publication reads.

The Swedish Security Service stressed that the decision to raise the level should be considered in the long term.

The decision was made on the basis of data provided by the National Centre for Terrorist Threat Assessment.
