Tatarstan keen to develop machine tool building with Belarus

Tatarstan is interested in developing co-operation with Belarus in machine tool building – as stated by Oleg Korobchenko, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Industry and Trade. According to him, in the context of sanctions pressure on Belarus and Russia, industrial interaction and import substitution have acquired particular importance.

“The most important thing is that Belarusian enterprises always respond positively to our proposals for collaboration across various industries. Today, a huge number of Belarusian companies help us to replace imports. Belarus turned out to be more prepared for the current situation, and now such enterprises as MTZ, MAZ and Amkodor are helping us to replace imports.”

As a result, according to Mr. Korobchenko, the volume of trade has grown significantly. There are all backgrounds for its increase, with new areas for interaction also being worked out.

“Machine tool building is a promising direction. What we don’t have. We would like to recreate this cluster in Tatarstan. There is a large area here for integration and growth of trade. This cluster will include more than 40 different companies. Every year we need to produce two thousand machine tools,” he added.
