Swedish Armed Forces to train Ukrainian pilots on JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets

Sweden has decided to allocate the twelfth aid package to Ukraine – worth $23m, which also envisages training of Ukrainian pilots to fly the Swedish JAS Gripen fighters, RIA Novosti reports

A press release from the Swedish government says, “The government has decided on a new support package for Ukraine... The total cost of this twelfth support package is approximately 250m Swedish Krone.”

It is also reported that Sweden will produce ‘introductory training’ for Ukrainian pilots in the management of JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft.

The Swedish government said in a statement that logistics and maintenance centers for the equipment transferred to Ukraine will be located in Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
