State Border Committee: Polish border guards officially recognised 50,000+ facts of refugees’ displacement to the border

The Main Headquarters of the Polish Border Guard has officially recognised more than 50 thousand facts of the displacement of refugees to the border in response to a request from volunteers who help these people in the Polish border area, Belarus’ State Border Committee reports in its Telegram channel

It is informed that, from August 2021 to December 26th, 2022, the Polish Border Guard displaced 50,668 foreigners, citizens of third countries, leaving them at the border. “Activists say that, in practice, this means that vulnerable refugees found in Polish forests are taken to the border and left in a life-threatening state or pushed out through animal gates instead of carrying out procedures and providing assistance,” Belarus’ State Border Committee said.

At the same time, representatives of Polish humanitarian organisations are convinced that the migration crisis will not come to its end even after completion of the fence construction. Volunteers are still searching for 200 foreigners who went missing in the Polish border area.

The State Border Committee noted that, according to the Polish Border Guard, sixty-six refugees, including citizens of Cuba and Yemen, were detained at the border over the past day. "No information about the provision of assistance or the decisions taken with regard to each case is available,” the source added.
