State Border Committee: corpse of a refugee found on border with Lithuania
Belarusian servicemen found the corpse of a refugee on the border with Lithuania on April 20th, the State Border Committee reports in its Telegram channel
As noted by the State Border Committee, Lithuanian military has been forcibly throwing refugees over the fence for several years already, giving them no opportunity to exercise their right to asylum.
"Such actions result in injuries and people’s death. A man of non-Slavic appearance has become another victim of the Lithuanian migration policy. The corpse of a refugee was discovered by Belarusian servicemen on the border with Lithuania on April 20th," the State Border Committee said in a statement.
In order to establish all the circumstances of the incident, an investigative task force went to the scene.
“Instead of complying with the norms of international law, the Lithuanian authorities are trying to make a video sensation featuring refugees overcoming barriers. However, they forget to tell the public that it was Lithuania that deprived these people of a legitimate way of obtaining protection and asylum. The true sensation is that violence, violation of the law, human rights and even murders of people continue on the external borders of the democratic European Union," the State Border Committee stressed.
