Spain said it would send NASAMS air defence systems to Lithuania to protect NATO summit

Spain plans to send a battery of NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems to Lithuania to protect the NATO summit, which will be held in Vilnius on July 11th-12th – as reported by the Spanish edition of ABC

The publication says that Spain will move NASAMS from the Lielvarde military base in Latvia. In addition to the air defence system, 85 Spanish military personnel will also arrive in Lithuania.

The ABC edition says, “This contribution demonstrates our reliability, compatibility with other NATO systems and our commitment to the Atlantic Alliance.”

It is also reported that Germany will transfer the Patriot missile defence system, based in Slovakia, to Lithuania to protect the NATO summit, which will be held in July in Vilnius.
