Russian Ambassador in London: resistance of Ukrainian army paid for by the United States and EU

The resistance demonstrated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine is based on the money coming from the West – as stated by the Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrei Kelin, RIA Novosti reports

In his talk with the TRT World TV channel, Mr. Kelin noted, “This resistance force was paid for by the West: the European Union and the United States. We understand that the best profession in Ukraine now is a soldier, because he is very well paid and therefore he must fight. However, I do not believe that there are serious anti-Russian sentiments there, since there are many ties between Ukraine and Russia.”

The diplomat believes that anti-Russian sentiments are mostly present among some circles in the west of Ukraine; they have come to the central part of Ukraine and Kiev and become the policy of the government and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Western media have repeatedly reported that the Ukrainian authorities are in despair due to an increasing international fatigue from the conflict and lack of Western assistance. Moreover, Western countries do not expect success from the Kiev regime in 2024, because the Armed Forces of Ukraine are increasingly losing manpower and getting weaker. According to Kyrylo Budanov, the Head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s General Intelligence Directorate, the shortage of military personnel is significant. He noted that, after the failed counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in June 2023, the West believes Kiev's new offensive is unlikely until 2025.

Commenting on the special military operation during his annual press conference and a phone-in event, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that ‘victory will be ours’, and peace will reign after Russia achieves its goals in this operation. According to the Russian leader, Kiev is sending its people to the death, and the Ukrainian military admit that this is a one-way road. The West has sent everything it promised to Ukraine – and even more, but 2.3 thousand armoured vehicles, including 747 tanks, have been eliminated since the beginning of Kiev's counteroffensive. As noted by the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, the United States knows that Ukraine will not be able to defeat Russia in an armed conflict.
