Russia to present evidence of Ukraine's use of toxic substances to OPCW

Russia will form and present evidence of Ukraine’s use of toxic substances to the Technical Secretariat of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) – as stated by Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Kirill Lysogorsky, TASS reports

He noted that Russia’s Defence Ministry, together with Russian intelligence agencies, has repeatedly recorded incidents with the use of chemical substances by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) against Russian military personnel in the special military operation zone, and presented detailed reports on this issue. “The Ukrainian intelligence agencies’ use of a chemical warfare agent for terrorist purposes was recorded in the Zaporozhye Region in September 2023. We are forming an evidentiary base, and it will certainly be presented to the OPCW Technical Secretariat and other organisations if necessary,” he said, commenting on information about a cache of poison and psychotropic substances that a man recruited by Kiev planned to use for mass murder in Melitopol.

Kirill Lysogorsky noted that Russia constantly informs the OPCW Technical Secretariat about plans to stage chemical provocations using various toxic substances developed by the armed groups of Ukraine, as well as to use chemical facilities for the deployment of Ukrainian troops and military operations. “Such reckless behaviour naturally has serious consequences. I would like to note that it was through Russia’s steps to inform the international community and make this data public that a number of tragedies were prevented. Unfortunately, the exception was the attack on the ammonia pipeline, destroyed by the AFU actions last summer,” added the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia.
