Russia said possible sending of NATO troops to Ukraine would become shortest path to direct war

Konstantin Dolgov, a member of Russia’s Federation Council, said the words of former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen about possible participation of NATO troops in the Ukrainian conflict bring the world closer to a direct war, gazeta.ru reports

“I would call the NATO Secretary General a short-sighted politician, since it does not even occur to him that such aggressive rhetoric can bring a powerful leap forward in the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine,” Mr. Dolgov noted.

According to the politician, such a decision by NATO will be ‘the shortest path to a direct war’, but Mr. Dolgov believes the alliance members are unlikely to agree to take such a step.
