It is reported that the National Association of Sugar Beet Growers asked to immediately introduce an embargo on sugar imports from Ukraine.

The association asked the new Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Siekierski to introduce an embargo and ‘measures that will lead the EU to abandon the rules allowing unrestricted access to the EU market for sugar from Ukraine and restore the original rules for the annual quota on imports of Ukrainian sugar into in the amount of 20,070 tonnes’.

It is also said that the organisation opposes the extension of the decisions contained in the EU regulation, allowing duty-free and unlimited import of agricultural products from Ukraine and remains in force until June 5th, 2024.
