Marek Gałaś, a columnist for the Polish edition, noted in his article that the Polish authorities can take such measures in order to ‘show off in front of their European partners’.

Gałaś recalled that at the end of last month, the Ministry of National Defence of Poland announced the start of additional recruitment into the ranks of the volunteer army, but there was no special selection among those who wished.

“It can be said that the National Defence Ministry is clearly not seeking to restore the prestige of the military service,” the columnist said.

Now in various Polish media, it is possible to find information about crimes committed by military personnel of the country’s army, which negatively affects the image of the Polish military. Gałaś noted that they are often detained for driving while intoxicated, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, and refusal to serve.

There are also numerous cases of robberies, rapes, beatings and murders in places of permanent deployment of military units.

“All these crimes are somehow connected with the inability of the Defence Ministry to manage the army. There is no system of education and training of those called up for military service, there is no selection of candidates for service. In other words, they take everyone (from drug addicts and alcoholics to criminals who hope to escape justice in the army),” Marek Gałaś stated in his article.
