Poland’s Defence Minister announced new sapper battalion in the northeast of the country
A sapper battalion has been established, which will be deployed in the northeast on Polish territory in the city of Augustow in the Suwalki corridor – as stated by Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak, TASS reports
According to the Polish official, in the near future there will be information about new investments.
“A sapper battalion will soon be created in Augustow. This is another military unit that we are building from scratch, and I assure you, it will not be the last,” wrote Mariusz Blaszczak on his Twitter page.
According to the Defence Minister, Polish soldiers are the best guarantee of the country’s security.
Last week, Secretary of the Polish Cabinet’s Committee for National Security and Defence Affairs Zbigniew Hoffmann said that the Polish Defence Ministry decided to redeploy troops from the western part of the country to the east, closer to the border with Belarus. This measure was caused by information about plans to conduct manoeuvres there with the participation of PMC Wagner fighters.
