Pentagon: US Department of State approved $440m in munitions sales to Taiwan

According to pentagon, the US Department of State has approved the potential sale of ammunition and logistics supply support to Taiwan in two separate deals valued at up to $440m, RIA Novosti reports

A Pentagon statement said that the US Department of State had approved potential sale of 30mm ammunition and related equipment to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the US, which functions as Taiwan’s embassy in Washington, for an estimated $332.2m.

The second request – worth $108m – is also said to include support for the purchase of spare and repair parts for wheeled vehicles.
