Patrushev: prevention of US dictates suits interests of sovereign countries

It is in the interests of all sovereign states to prevent US dictates in international relations – as stated by Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev in Johannesburg at an annual meeting of BRICS High Representatives on National Security, with the participation of Friends of the BRICS, RIA Novosti reports

According to Nikolai Patrushev, today international relations are undergoing significant changes.

“The world continues to move confidently towards a fairer multipolar system based, as Russian President Vladimir Putin noted, ‘on the principles of trust and the indivisibility of security, equal opportunities for the free and original development of all countries and peoples’,” said the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

According to him, this trend causes categorical rejection among the Western minority.

“Which [Western minority] does not shun any means in an attempt to maintain world domination: from unilateral sanctions to waging hybrid wars,” Nikolai Patrushev added.

According to the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, it has come to the point that the global minority seeks to replace the UN-centric system of the world order, i.e., the system of the majority, with some kind of ‘order based on the rules’.

“We’re convinced that it is in the interests of all sovereign states to prevent the dictates of the Americans and the imposition of their approaches on others. In the modern political and economic architecture of the world, there is a growing demand for an increase in the representation of the countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, pursuing an independent foreign policy and ready to defend national interests and their sovereignty in the institutions of global governance,” Nikolai Patrushev underlined.
