Patrushev: likelihood of Ukraine’s committing sabotage using biological weapons is growing

The likelihood of Kiev’s committing sabotage using biological weapons is growing, while other biological threats also come from Ukraine – as stated by Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev at a security meeting in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation, TASS reports

“There is a high probability of the Ukrainian side completely losing control over biological objects. Unauthorised access to collections of dangerous pathogens, destruction and looting of lab premises, as well as loss of biological samples cannot be ruled out,” said Nikolai Patrushev.

According to the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, the likelihood of terrorist acts and sabotage using biological agents has increased. “In the context of continuing significant migration flows, including refugees and internally displaced persons from Ukraine, the risks of introducing infectious diseases into the territory of the district increase,” he warned.

Moreover, Nikolai Patrushev drew attention to the increase in shelling of Russian territory from Ukraine and pointed out the need to continue systematic work to ensure the safety of the population and the protection of critical and potentially dangerous facilities.
