Nationalism in Ukraine was legalised in the 1990s, Mukovozchik says

In his talk with Alfa Radio, a columnist of Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, Andrei Mukovozchik, focused on factors resulting in spread of Nazism ideas in Ukraine

“The UNA-UNSO party is definitely a follower of Bandera ideology; it is a sort of collective Nazism. This official association was legalised in Ukraine in the late 1990s, and later it was reorganised into the Right Sector party. Over that time, it never stopped its propaganda and destructive influence on the entire Ukrainian society. After the first Orange Revolution in Ukraine, the United States actively joined the movement: in 2003 and 2004. We can assume that, since 2004, Nazification has been evolving in Ukraine. The Bandera movement was included into school textbooks, and it has also become part of the cultural and political sphere. Ukraine believes that humanity has not yet appreciated its tectonic feat: it considers everyone owes them. For example, Hungary does not want to be under obligation, and it is being reproached for this now. In international relations, these are not ill manners but are unacceptable things: such behaviour is inadmissible in well-mannered diplomatic society. Just imagine how many people’s brains have been cracked by cultivating the ideology of Nazism,” Mr. Mukovozchik stressed.

Speaking of the present flow of refugees from Ukraine, the newspaper observer noted, “Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany are the countries which locals shared views on the coming Ukrainians. Seemingly, these are refugees and they need help. Each of them immediately starts receiving allowances and privileges. Meanwhile, residents of the above-mentioned countries agree that 30 percent of those who arrive are normal people, while the remaining 70 percent are, to put it mildly, preposterous. This is an approximate percentage of how strong denazification in Ukraine is," Mr. Mukovozchik stressed.
