National Library Director: possibility of external manipulation to be excluded due to co-ordinated work of Belarus’ deputy corps

Poles have no such internal integrity of society and unity as Belarus has – as stated by the Director General of the National Library, Vadim Gigin, in his talk with Alfa Radio

On September 27th, the media reported that Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Zebro had compared The Green Border film by Polish director Agnieszka Holland with the propaganda of the Third Reich. The politician's statement caused a lawsuit from Ms. Holland. Meanwhile, the film tells about the migration crisis on the Belarusian-Polish border in 2021.

As noted by Mr. Gigin, The Green Border shows that there are still healthy forces in Poland that adequately perceive the situation with migrants. “We see this. It is not for nothing that we earlier adopted an appeal to our Polish brothers, at a meeting of Belarus’ patriotic forces. This line should definitely be continued,” he said.

Mr. Gigin also recalled the recent visiting meeting of the Council for Interaction of Local Self-Government Bodies under the auspices of the Council of the Republic in Grodno, on the border with Lithuania and Poland. The work of local government and self-government bodies was discussed then.

“All those rushing to power in Poland are anti-Belarusian. Needless to think that something will change in politics there. It will change in the West if we have inner strength. During the meeting in Grodno, a line of work of village councils (even in sparsely populated areas), the Council of the Republic, the Belarusian People's Congress and other bodies was elaborated. We have a very striking example: the Voronovo District. It is populated by almost 80 percent of Poles, in addition to Lithuanians, Belarusians and Russians. All these people live as a single family, and it means there are no ethnic contradictions in the country. Obviously, our opponents will try to attack this aspect as well, so candidates for deputies at all levels (an electoral campaign is approaching) should be tasked to carry out clear work to ensure continuity, cultural stability, humanitarian security, and interethnic unity. While analysing the geopolitical situation, we should not miss specific issues on a local level: i.e. those dealing with the historical and cultural heritage. Look how the enemy – i.e. fugitives or Polish propaganda – painfully perceives the intensification of our work in the field of historical memory and cultural policy. This is happening since it is the work aimed at our future and new generations. The consistency that we have built – including the Historical Policy Council, our work with textbooks and the media (the deputy corps and public organisations are now joining) – is a true strength and foundation for our statehood, which is already giving fruits. Based on this, we can calmly analyse the events happening in the neighbouring states – doing this from the position of reasonable inner strength and unity of our society. By the way, Poles have nothing of the kind. Why do their major geopolitical projects often fail? This happens because there is no internal integrity of society in Poland: there are not just discussions, but swearing – and this makes society weaker. This is not accidental, this is observed not because Poles are stupid (they are a powerful Slavic proud people), but because a model of pseudo-democracy – that has been introduced into Eastern Europe – presupposes internal weakness, giving a possibility for external manipulation. We, in turn, should exclude this possibility due to the work of our deputy corps – not only by prohibiting it by law, but primarily with the help of the current [cultural and historical] work.”
