MP: no gender inequality in Belarus

There is no gender inequality in Belarus, and all roads are open to women in any field – as stated by the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Economics, Budget and Finance at the Council of the Republic, Tatiana Runets

Speaking at the awarding ceremony of the Woman of the Year laureates, the MP noted that women occupy a special place in Belarusian society. “Take France, for example. Women there have lower wages than men, and their maternity leave is really short. In other countries, women are not allowed to do business. On hearing this, I feel pride in my country. In Belarus, there are many successful female executives who also have small children. It is possible to combine career and motherhood in the republic, because the state renders a huge support for women – providing, for example, a three-year paid maternity leave. Not every country can boast the same. Moreover, during his recent meeting with the Belarusian Women’s Union representatives, the President assured that no social programme will stop in the country, so Belarusian women can feel protected.”
