Exports of educational services at the Belarusian State University (BSU) have almost doubled by the end of the year, according to information announced at the BSU council meeting, the university press service reports
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation of Education Viktor Kochin made a report at the council meeting
“The Vice Rector presented the results of the university international activities through a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the fulfilment of the 2024 goals in this area,” the press service noted. “Exports of educational services have almost doubled. This is not only financial resources, but also confirmation of the high assessment of the BSU’s activities by external partners. The Vice Rector also emphasised the prospects of developing new regions. Among the new vectors, the African one is indicative. Exports of educational services to Africa grew by 133.2 percent in the reporting period. Today, representatives from 16 countries of the region study at the BSU. Indonesia is also showing a keen interest in the Belarusian university. This year students from this country studied for a semester at the faculties for Socio and Cultural Communications and International Relations. They chose the BSU from among the top 1 percent of the best universities in the world.”
In addition, the positive dynamics of the increase in the number of foreign citizens was maintained at the end of the year: about 5.5 thousand people from 40 countries currently study at the BSU.
The issue of the university representation in international rankings was also among the priorities during the meeting.
“The BSU steadily maintains its position in the top 1 percent of the best universities,” the press service noted. “According to the Vice Rector, it is obvious that today one of the most objective rankings is the Moscow International Rating – The Three Missions of the University (MosIUR) – which takes into account the social work of universities, alongside educational and scientific activities. In order to maintain positive indicators, it is important to focus on new forms of work with partners. The interaction with the Chinese side through the activities of the Institute for Innovative Education under the BSU auspices (Sanya, PRC) is promising.”
The BSU has drawn up an action plan for the university’s international activities in 2025 and a roadmap for increasing BSU’s position in MosIUR. It is expected that the realisation of these intentions will contribute to strengthening the presence of the Belarusian State University in the global academic space, development of international communications and formation of a sustainable positive image of the university abroad.
