Military-patriotic club opened for children in Minsk

A year-round children's military-patriotic club Granite has begun its work at Minsk’s 5448 military unit

Opening of such military-patriotic clubs takes boys and girls away from gadgets, while protecting them from their destructive influence. They help strengthen young people’s health, teach them independence and cultivate useful skills. Moreover, training at military-patriotic clubs raises the prestige of service in the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, and also forms a conscious position of a citizen-patriot, a defender of the Motherland.

During the solemn opening ceremony, soldiers of the 1st special purpose troop demonstrated their skills in self-defence, and the Song and Dance Ensemble of Belarus’ Internal Troops prepared a concert programme.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Commander of Internal Troops, Nikolai Karpenkov, presented the banner of the club to young trainees. “For many years, military-patriotic camps have been organised on the basis of our military units. This summer, there were 46 of them, of which 13 were round-the-clock. Two thousand children attended them,” he said, adding, “This year, we have initiated a new form of work: military-patriotic clubs. For two months already, the Lynx club is already operational – uniting 100 boys and girls. The Granite club is now joining.”

Classes at these clubs include gymnastics, hand-to-hand combat and pre-conscription training. The most experienced officers, sergeants and soldiers work with children.
