Microsoft to lay off up to 11 thousand employees
American Microsoft is planning large-scale cuts, and media informs that about 10,000-11,000 of the digital giant's employees, or about 5 percent, will lose jobs, RIA Novosti reports
According to Sky News, Microsoft will announce plans to reduce staff in the coming days, and approximately 11,000 employees worldwide are expected to be dismissed. At the moment, more than 220 thousand people work at the corporation.
Microsoft’s decision is rooted in the deteriorated economic situation. As noted by analysts, although most investors view Microsoft as a large stable business capable of withstanding any storm, the company has vulnerabilities, some of which may be exacerbated by the macroeconomic downturn.
Earlier it was reported that the British company Vodafone – one of the world's largest mobile operators – plans to dismiss hundreds of employees.
