Mezentsev: it’s hard to imagine that the descendants of those who conceived the Barbarossa plan will tell us who won the war

State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev at a mournful requiem rally in the Brest Fortress, which was held on the National Remembrance Day of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People, noted that it is difficult to imagine how, after 80 years, the descendants of those who conceived the Barbarossa plan, the plan for the destruction of peoples the Soviet Union, and the remaining people wanted to be made slaves serving German fascism, they will tell us who won the war, who took Berlin, how we should live and what we should do

“Today we see unprecedented pressure on Belarus and Russia: economic, financial, political, informational, military. Our answer to this is unity: the unity of the peoples of Belarus and Russia, the common position of our national leaders, President Vladimir Putin and President Aleksandr Lukashenko.”

Dmitry Mezentsev noted that this would not be possible if millions of connections between Russians and Belarusians were not our fortune and wealth, “If Belarus and Russia would divide the Victory and the memory of them, it would be impossible. There can be only one historical truth, and no one has the right to the truth as opposed to those pages and deeds that are dear to us. Today we are talking about the Union State, we are taking steps towards rapprochement for the sake of millions of people, today and tomorrow. For a number of years, funds were allocated from the Union State budget for the creation of expositions. We will continue this work.”
