This is another step made by China to boost tourism and stimulate the economy after a slump during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“US tourist visa applicants will no longer be required to submit proof of round-trip air tickets, hotel reservations, itinerary or invitation letter,” the publication reads.

Beijing has previously given permission to citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia to visit the country without visas from December 1st. It will be valid for 12 months, during which tourists from these six countries will be able to visit China for up to 15 days.

The number of incoming tourists to the country has dropped sharply during the pandemic due to strict measures to combat COVID-19.
