Lukashenko took to ice with Peking University ice hockey team
During his visit to Peking University, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, took part in a training session and a friendly match with the university’s ice hockey team, BelTA reports
The Belarusian Head of State took to the ice to the legendary song ‘Kasiu Yas Kanyushynu’ [translated from Belarusian as Yas Mowed Down the Clover].
At the university, Aleksandr Lukashenko has met with the Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University, Chairman of the Pedagogical Council, Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the National People’s Congress, Hao Ping.
“According to the plan, there will be a hockey match today. Many of our ice hockey players did not sleep at night and are extremely excited. Our university has welcomed over 70 heads of state and government at different times. But, perhaps, this is the first time that the head of a foreign country will play in a hockey match with our students,” said Hao Ping.
Peking University is a key higher education institution in China. Together with Tsinghua University, it is considered the most prestigious higher educational establishment in the country. More than 46 thousand people study here, of which about 3.3 thousand are foreigners.
