From the first minutes of the two leaders’ meeting, a warm and friendly atmosphere was felt.

"It was Nawaz [Nawaz Sharif, who was Pakistan’s PM many times and is a brother of the current prime minister – BelTA’s remark] who told me of him,” the Belarusian Head of State noted.

"Mr. President, it is a great honour and pleasure for me to meet with you. We have brought you the best wishes from the people of Pakistan. Both our delegation and our government know that you are a very old friend of our country," the Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, greeted the Belarusian leader.

"Mr. Prime Minister, I am pleased to hear from you that we are good friends of Pakistan. It really is. Moreover, no matter what kind of relationship you have with your brother, you should know that he is my good friend," Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, adding that – during his meetings with the previous leaders of Pakistan – he always inquired about his health and about where he was, regardless of their convictions and relations with Nawaz.

"You know, they always openly told me about your brother. It was him who had mentioned you for the first time to me. We rooted for you, wishing you to become the Prime Minister, because too much had been done in the Belarus-Pakistan relations under Nawaz Sharif," the President stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and Nawaz Sharif really enjoy friendly relations. They exchanged visits, and – in August 2015, during his arrival in Belarus – Nawaz Sharif, his wife and his son visited the Belarusian leader’s Ozerny residence in the Minsk District.

"Our nature, delicious cuisine, and hospitality… The guests heard about all this, but now they have been able to see for themselves,” Natalya Eismont, the press secretary of the Belarusian Head of State, shared the details.

Jointly with his son Nikolai, Aleksandr Lukashenko showed the residence to the guests, offering them an impromptu tour. They also visited a spring where Nawaz Sharif, as well as members of his family, tasted pure and truly unique water.
