Lukashenko on scientific developments: we’re doing enough for defence and security, as well as for peaceful life

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has visited the Intellectual Belarus exhibition of sci-tech achievements at the BelExpo National Exhibition Centre. It was organised in pursuance of the instructions of the Head of State given during a working meeting with Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov on October 18th, 2022.

Upon his arrival, the President noted, “We agreed once with the Head of the academy [National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Gusakov] that we should show what we can do. We’re able to do much: about five hundred, as I am informed, latest developments are on display here. And that’s not all People need to see this exhibition. We always show tractors and vehicles, how we shoot, how we blow up ... But in fact, we have enough everything not only for defence and security, but also for a peaceful life.”

At the exhibition, the Head of State got acquainted with the developments of the Horizont Holding (including domestic laptops, computers and televisions), medical developments, achievements in microelectronics, lasers, electric motors, domestic batteries, defence industry innovations, including drones, as well as achievements of farmers.

Aleksandr Lukashenko was especially interested in the AI developments. He discussed this topic earlier during his meetings with foreign partners.

“If you need support or big contacts, you can rely on me. I will support and help, if necessary,” the Head of State noted.

The President of Belarus stressed the importance of developing the area of artificial intelligence and microelectronics. Speaking about microelectronics, Aleksandr Lukashenko asked about the prospects for co-operation and implementation of joint programmes with Russia.

“We are needed there!” experts confirmed to the President.

“We will give any money for this (I talked to Putin about this). He promised that there would be no problems with funding. If we want to be great in terms of intelligence, then artificial intelligence and microelectronics are the future, the foundation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

At the end of the visit to the exhibition, the President of Belarus was presented with a book on the history of the Belarusian statehood, according to which, since September 1st, students have been trained in the country’s universities.
