Lukashenko-Jinping bilateral meeting lasted three times longer than planned

The bilateral meeting in Beijing between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping lasted three times as planned, BelTA reports

At the end of the negotiations, the leaders of the countries exchanged gifts, after which they continued communication over a working lunch.

Aleksandr Lukashenko presented Xi Jinping with several artistic items symbolising Belarus and Belarusian-Chinese friendship, including an artistic and decorative panel – My Belarus – depicting the beauty of Belarusian nature and cosy houses against the backdrop of oak forests and lakes. At the bottom of the panel there are ears of corn, flax flowers and cornflowers, symbolising the beauty and wealth of the Belarusian nation.

The Belarusian-Chinese Friendship: One Belt – One Path sculptural composition is also symbolic, reflecting both history and modernity: from camel caravans to high-speed trains while the symbolic globe is held together by the Hands of Friendship.

In addition to artistic items, the Belarusian Head of State presented his Chinese colleague with an exclusive set of chocolates and a basket of Belarusian products. “These are similar to products that we supply to China. But these are the latest innovations,” explained the Head of State.

One of the gifts to Aleksandr Lukashenko from Xi Jinping was a silk painting with Chinese mountain landscapes.

“And I just wanted to ask China to give us a painting for the Independence Palace, which will stand in the centre. This one will be,” noted Aleksandr Lukashenko, upon seeing the gift.

Judging by Xi Jinping’s reaction, perhaps not only this painting will decorate the Independence Palace. “What size, what kind of landscape?” the Chinese leader immediately asked.

“So that there is a Chinese soul there,” said the President of Belarus.

“Agreed,” Xi Jinping replied.

In total, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping communicated for more than three hours. The President confirmed that Belarus was, is and will be a reliable partner for China, while the President of the PRC declared his readiness to further strengthen strategic co-operation with Belarus.
