Lukashenko invites Mordovia to liaise in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and microelectronics

Belarus could develop co-operation with Mordovia in the production of innovative goods – as noted by President Aleksandr Lukashenko during today’s meeting with Head of the Republic of Mordovia Artem Zdunov

The President noted that the innovative flagships of Mordovia – optical fibre and pharmaceuticals – are certainly of great interest to us, “What opportunities do we have to develop these topics together? We are interested in the experience of your recently created free economic zone. We have such sites in every Belarusian region. We could participate in establishing joint ventures in microelectronics. The corresponding competencies in Belarus have been preserved since the USSR times and are being successfully developed nowadays. Moreover, our specialists would be interested in learning about and participating, if you find it possible, in the creation of a Federal Biotechnology Centre in Mordovia. We boast experience in this area and plan to deploy a biotechnological cluster in Belarus on the basis of the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBC).”

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, taking into account pandemics around the world, the topic of drug safety has acquired special importance, which will only increase, “This is one of the investments in the future not only of our countries, but of the entire planet.”

The President also mentioned that the Belarusian side is now actively working with Russian partners on the concept of creating an aircraft for regional transportation.

“Perhaps, taking into account your production potential, we could find common ground on this issue,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The Head of State also noted interest in co-operation with the Ruzkhimmash company in the development of foundry production and the production of equipment for the chemical industry.

“We’re ready to share experience and technologies for using secondary resources, including synthetic RDF fuel, to produce thermal energy. The topic is not simple, but very promising,” Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to another area of interaction.

Belarus also welcomes the initiative of Russian partners to create a multifunctional centre in Mordovia for the sale and technical support of Belarusian-made equipment.
