Lukashenko convened meeting on exports of Belarusian produce
Exports of Belarusian goods are being discussed today at the Palace of Independence. Opening the meeting, the President noted that, last year, it was possible to overcome negative trends and achieve positive monetary results in terms of exports.
“Of course, money decides everything, but I would like us, as people say, to increase exports by the piece. Therefore, no matter how much we try to embellish our results achieved last year, it will not work out. Let’s be honest, by the piece means that we sold fewer tractors and other vehicles, potash fertilisers and oil products (tonnes and pieces) than in 2021. Due to the fact that there has been a sharp increase in prices for the goods that we sell, we have more or less positive results in exports.”
However, according to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the fact that we have not reached the expected level by the piece and by tonnes does not allow us to calm down, “We need to think about how to expand exports which mean currency without which the country and the economy cannot live. Moreover, Belarus has an export-oriented economy, half of what we produce, we will have to sell in order to live normally. Therefore, we will talk about exports and, primarily, about exports of our main goods. These are oil products, and potash fertilisers, and equipment (after all, the automotive industry is well developed). So, the issue of exports is of paramount importance.”
