Lukashenko commented on IOC decision: this is not a sport, but already a direction of war
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, declared that in his Address to the Belarusian People and the National Assembly
The Head of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee’s Main Department of Sports and Tourism, Yevgeny Buloichik, asked the Head of State about his attitude to the International Olympic Committee’s decision on the participation of Belarusian and Russian athletes in international competitions, also wondering whether we actually need such sports with the West.
Aleksandr Lukashenko commented, “We do not need such sports, as these are no longer sports in this case. This is a direction of politics, or rather not politics but war. You know who initiated this, and why this is all happening. When it got into Syria, Libya, when it intervened in Afghanistan and bombed Iraq… No one suspended it [the United States]. So it is already managing everything today. Those in the IOC have made a blunder, sorry for saying that. They can no longer cope with these processes in the world…”
The Head of State stressed that Americans are not only imposing sanctions against us today, but also making Europeans to kneel down. At the same time, Aleksandr Lukashenko added that the IOC is slowly retreating from strict requirements.
“Well, you do not want us to perform under our own flag... That’s ok, we will tolerate this – though this is disgusting. We will cope with this. This need to be passed through. No need to worry," the Head of State said.
