Lukashenko: all major agreements in co-operation with China must be turned into definite projects

All major agreements in co-operation with China must be turned into definite projects – as stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at Peking University during his meeting with the Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University, Chairman of the Pedagogical Council, Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the National People’s Congress, Hao Ping, BelTA reports

“The Chairman [of the People’s Republic of China] and I are long-time friends, since we equally assess the situation in the world and look at world prospects in the same way. After our meeting, negotiations continue in the government at the level of deputy prime ministers. All our great intentions and major agreements need to be brought down to earth and turned into definite projects. On the instructions of Xi Jinping and my instructions, the deputy prime ministers are involved in this,” said the Belarusian leader.

He also stated the need to strengthen communication between the two countries’ peoples, “Today, the Chairman of the PRC placed special emphasis on this: to strengthen communication between youth groups and young people in general, because they are the future.”

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, student exchange issues were also discussed at the meeting with Xi Jinping. “We need to strengthen and intensify this exchange. We need to expand co-operation and not limit ourselves only to biotechnologies. We need to expand in the field of chemistry, physics, mathematics... There is interest on the part of China to establish interaction,” the President noted.

Hao Ping said that in 2015, during the state visit of the Chinese President to Belarus, he was also a member of the delegation as Deputy Minister of Education and was personally able to see the hospitality and friendship of Minsk residents.

“You recalled the background of our relationship. One of the pages is linked to you. It is very nice. You know Minsk, you have been there. This means that it will be easier for us to intensify our contacts in education,” noted the Belarusian leader.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that during his current visit he spoke with his very good and long-time friend, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, for about four hours. “He recalled when we met in Minsk for the first time. He was Deputy Chairman and visited Minsk. I was very pleased that he remembered even the nuances of our meeting,” the President said.
