Lavrov: Russia will seek to create mechanism to control US biological activity
Russia's attempts to figure out what the military biological centres deployed by the United States around the world are doing are encountering opposition, but Russia will continue to seek to create an effective and transparent mechanism for monitoring such activities of the Pentagon – as stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, following the results of participation in the G20 Summit, TASS reports
"We have touched upon the issue of biological security primarily in the context of the military-biological activity that the United States – in line with the Pentagon programmes – has deployed in dozens of countries around the world, especially in Eurasia, along the perimeter of the borders of Russia and China. We have stated that our attempts to figure out what these biologists are doing there are encountering resistance both within the framework of the Biological Weapons Convention and within the UN Security Council, where we recently raised this issue," Mr. Lavrov said.
"We will continue to strive for the creation of an effective and transparent mechanism for monitoring such programme,” the Russian Foreign Minister added.
