Kochanova: women must advocate Belarusian traditions and values more loudly

Every year, women’s activity in the socio-political processes of Belarus increases. Many ladies boldly go into politics, into leadership positions and successfully build a career. The growing number of women among deputies at various levels, heads of ministries, departments, and large enterprises is not merely for the sake of gender balance. In her talk with the ONT TV channel, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova explained the driving force behind the ‘softer part of humanity’ in solving government problems.

She underlined that it’s impossible to remain indifferent to the processes taking place in the world, “Therefore, women must advocate more loudly that they are committed to peace, sovereignty, independence, and non-interference in the internal affairs of our country. I’m glad that our women actively support each other and those who need assistance. This is our mission, the mission of women. When we are together, we can do a lot. It’s necessary to preserve the traditions and values that have existed in our country from the ancient times. Belarus has experienced a lot in its history. Of course, women saw and understood how scary it is when children die, when cities and villages are destroyed and when your country practically no longer exists. Those women who live with their minds, who live with their hearts, will never do anything that could affect the peace-loving politics of the country today. It seems to me that these are simply unreasonable actions, sometimes simply vile towards one’s own people, one’s own country. This concerns our Belarus.”

Natalya Kochanova also spoke about militant women in world politics, whose calls for war and destruction discourage even men who are not easily scared.

“In general, dirty politics overwhelms everything in the world. It’s necessary to understand that there is nothing more valuable in the world than human life. Children’s tears are unacceptable. How can women today, who consider themselves wise and great politicians, make such statements in support of genocide and fascism? It is beyond the pale. This can’t happen. Life is different and people are different. But the most important thing is that each person has their own principles of life that cannot be stepped over. These are exactly the traditions and values that exist in our native Belarus,” noted the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly.
