Kenji Yamada said, “Many people in North Korea are reportedly suffering from hunger. On the other hand, North Korea is spending huge resources on the illegal development of its nuclear and missile programme, taking critically needed resources from its own people.”

Moreover, according to the Japanese official, the DPRK, with its missile launches, violates numerous resolutions of the UN Security Council and threatens peace and stability in East Asia.

North Korea has carried out 14 missile launches this year, including testing the Hwaseong-18 intercontinental ballistic missile.
