Indonesia ‘still in process’ of considering use of Mir cards

Indonesian Ambassador to Moscow Jose Antonio Morato Tavares noted that Jakarta is in the process of considering the use of the Russian payment system Mir, RIA Novosti reports

The Ambassador stressed that at present the Mir cards are used in many countries, such as Türkiye, Vietnam, as well as in the CIS states. However, Indonesia is still in the process of resolving this issue.

“We recommended [Indonesian banks to consider using Mir cards], but I think it will take some time,” the diplomat said.

He also added that about 40,000 Russians who live on the island of Bali in Indonesia and they find ways to conduct banking operations.
